Previous plans for intensive private housing, shops and cinema developed by Angel Properties (Charles Style) now abandoned as company in administration. Large site partly owned by Lewes District Council and Angel Properties administrators. Lewes Community Land Trust is hoping to compete to buy the site in order to manage it as a mixture of affordable housing and low-cost work space for local business Lewes Community Land Trust.
Part of area is on functional floodplain and so will have to be designed to accommodate flow of flood water (Strategic Flood Risk Assesment)
